This handbook is designed to help the students of Helias plan a well-balanced 4-year program. The normal student load for freshmen and sophomores is 6 credits plus religion. Juniors and seniors may take from 5 to 6 credits plus religion. Before selecting his/her courses, the student should read the course descriptions carefully, noting the required and elective programs that will best prepare him/her for today and tomorrow. With the assistance of the administration, teachers, counselors, and parents, the student is encouraged to choose his/her program wisely.
Helias is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. In compliance with the State, Helias requires 26 credits for graduation. These requirements are in the following subject areas:

All students are required to attend eight semesters in grades nine and above. Permission may be granted to graduate after seven semesters under certain conditions such as: health reasons, college attendance. The courses that are required of all students provide the basic knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to be effective Christian citizens of our society.
